Trucker Boy Update #60- Celebration of Life, Live Stream Available now on the Hawaii News Now FB pages: Updated 3/10

Tomorrow, Friday, March 10, at 11:00am HST (4:00 pm EST), the will be a celebration of life service at Hope Chapel Maui, please see details here.  If you are not on island, there will be a live stream available on the Hawaii News Now FB Page at this link. Because of the large turnout expected, there will be no public parking at Hope Chapel, but there will be shuttles from other parking areas, please read more here.  As a special note, this is the only public service for Trucker Dukes.

It is still hard to believe that Trucker has passed on into eternity. Earlier this week there was a candlelight vigil at Giggle Hill on Maui. Bridgett Parker, a family friend shared this about the vigil.

We live in an awesome community. Tonight we gathered to honor Trucker Dukes and his beautiful life. Food, friendly faces and the fire department even made an appearance! ❤️🚒❤️👼🏼 A big thank you to everyone who helped with the planning, the cooking, spreading the word and donating time and talents. I’m certain that the Dukes felt the love

Additionally, 19 firefighters, “Trucker’s Boys,” from the NYFD Firehouse near where Trucker was receiving treatment at Sloan-Kettering in NYC were able to raise funds to fly to Maui for Trucker’s memorial.  According to the NYC Fire Wire FB Page, “The members of Eng.44, Eng.39/Lad.16 & Eng.22/Lad.13 extended the offer to the Maui firefighter and his family to come whenever they wanted. Many times they brought Trucker by, sometimes just the father showed up to blow off steam or for a shoulder to cry on.” The same firehouses threw a birthday party for Trucker, and last year Trucker was made an honorary firefighter with the NYFD. Please watch this video of Trucker’s Boy’s arriving on Maui yesterday.

As a memorial for their fallen comrade, firehouse have been adding Trucker’s name to the rosters sometimes with the words final ride or last alarm. The tributes to Trucker have pouring into the Team Trucker- Trucker Dukes Supporters, and the walls of his parents Joshua and Shauna Dukes. Please continue praying for the family as they process the grief of losing Trucker, pray for the Celebration of Life service to go smoothly, and please pray that Trucker’s life will continue to impact people.
