Hurricane Ignacio Update #2

Hurricane Ignacio is strengthening, and the lastest forecast track has it passing just north of the Hawaiian Islands. Please pray for the Hurricane weaken and miss the Hawaiian islands. Pray for those near the potential path of the storm to be safe and make preparations for its arrival.

LOCATION: 12.9N 139.5W ABOUT 1135 MI ESE OF HILO HAWAII

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS: 90 MPH.

PRESENT MOVEMENT: WNW OR 285 DEGREES AT 13 MPH.

DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 800 AM PDT, the center of Hurricane Ignacio was located near lat 12.9 N, long 139.5 W. Ignacio is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph, and this motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 90 mph with higher gusts. Some additional strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Ignacio could become a major hurricane on Friday.

Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 25 miles from the center and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 60 miles.
