Today, we will be ask for hearts to burn passionately for Christ. With so much busyness in the world, it easy to become distracted, even by busyness for God, and “leave our first love” like the church in Ephesus. The islands come with fewer of the distractions of busyness, but there are so many needs on the islands that the faithful focus on the work and forget the Father and His Son. Our job as believers is to fan the flames of love for Christ in our own hearts while serving His people.
Daddy, we ask to increase our passions for Your Son, and Holy Spirit remind us of all that Christ taught the disciples. We want to serve you, but more than that we want to rest against your chest and hear what You have to tell us. We want to have a tireless passion for Christ and to live as He did seeking the quiet moments alone with You. Let Your name come from our lips like that of a lover’s name, where we cannot stop talking about all You’ve done in our hearts and our lives. May our words and actions continually bring You praise as we realize who You are and as we understand Your heart.
Jesus, for those who have heard of you, but don’t yet know you, we ask for You to touch their hearts and awaken their passions for you. We know you created us all to worship You, that You’ve placed “eternity in our hearts.” We simply ask for the harvest that You’ve prepared, so there may be great rejoicing in heaven as Your kingdom continues to expand here on earth.
In your magnificent name, AMEN!
